Manual FUE Hair Transplant

The FUE method is a major technical advancement in hair restoration surgery.

In an FUE hair transplant, many hair follicles are obtained in a single day, providing excellent regrowth and patient tolerance without any great scarring.

The FUE technique is also performed in two ways: Motorized FUE and Manual FUE. In a motorized FUE technique, hair follicles are extracted with electrical instruments. In Manual FUE, on the other hand, roots are extracted manually, only by using a manual punch. Very few clinics can apply the Manual FUE technique. However, Manual FUE has a very important advantage. Manual FUE provides maximum usage of the capacity of the donor area without damage. As no motorized tools are used, the donor area is less traumatized, more roots can be extracted, and Manual FUE allows extraction and balanced distribution, which we call homogenization in the donor area.

An FUE hair transplant aims to achieve homogenization throughout the head. To provide homogenization, it is essential to use all parts of the donor area in random distribution. Even after multiple sessions, the donor area appears to be slightly less dense than it was previously, but only upon close inspection.

The skull normally comes in different contours and shapes, creating a constant change in the direction and angle of the hair. With magnification and tactile sensation, one can visually and mentally process the subtle nuances of the skin and hair characteristics, and then extract the follicular unit with precision. According to the extracted follicle parameters, any situation can be adjusted adequately. This important step is omitted without immediate feedback potential.

In addition, when manually extracted, the roots can be examined by surgical assistants before the extraction. As the roots can be displaced within the skin, this detail is important. Thus surgeons can also change their extraction directions according to the roots, and extract them without causing the slightest damage to the roots. Extracting the roots in this way largely results in more successful hair transplants. Therefore, it is important to perform the Manual FUE technique. The operation performed by Manual FUE takes approximately 6 to 7 hours depending on the number of roots.

Essentially, it can be said that manual FUE hair transplants protect the donor area and provide high-quality grafts.
