Hair loss in men is the result of androgenic hair loss, also known as male pattern baldness, which usually occurs on the top of the head. However, in Afro men, a broad pattern can sometimes be the root cause of hair loss. It is very difficult to remove hair follicles, especially in the FUE technique, in people who have curly hair, especially black hair, which we call African American. However, in hands experienced in this field, approximately 2500 – 3000 grafts can be removed in a single session on curly hair. The tricky part is that the curly hair continues to fold under the skin, and with a straight cutting punch, the curled root that is under the skin and invisible is to be removed. The most important point here is the depth of the hair follicles, which the surgeon cannot understand before starting the operation. If the roots of the person's hair are deep, long and the fold continues under the skin, it becomes even more difficult to remove the follicle without damaging it. Roots closer to the surface are easier and more efficient to take. Our hair restoration specialists have had great success with African American hair transplants in Turkey, using FUE and other hair transplant techniques to achieve natural-looking hair transplant results for patients of all races and ethnicities, including African American.

African American Men's Hair Transplant

When it comes to hair loss, black Afro men differ from Caucasian or Asian men in several ways. It is critical for hair transplant specialists to be aware of these specific characteristics, as well as to have the necessary experience and understanding. However, in our clinic, they perform Afro hair transplantation using the same hair restoration techniques (with a few exceptions) as the hair transplantation method appropriate for white people. Curly hair in black men makes follicular unit extraction a difficult technique to use (FUE). However, it is far superior to other methods.

What Should Be Considered After The Hair Transplant Operation?

Especially the treated area should be protected from all kinds of trauma. Prevention of edema that may occur can be prevented by lying on the patient's back. Due to the edema due to the operation, the hair line may appear asymmetrically or far behind, which may mislead the patient. In fact, it will be possible to make such evaluations only after 12 months. It is not recommended for the patient to drive while going home. She can start using her medications prescribed by her doctors at home. It is recommended to eat light meals after the operation. Again, the use of cigarettes and alcohol is not recommended for an average of 10 days after the operation.

What Should Be Expected After The Hair Transplant Operation?

2-3 days after the operation, the dressings will be opened and the area and the recipient area will be washed appropriately. These washes will last for an average of one week and ten days, once a day. In these washes, firstly, the drugs applied to the scalp after the operation will be cleaned, and then the skin parts on the most surface of the transplanted grafts will fall off. In the meantime, yellow and white stains that can be seen between the transplanted grafts may be lotion residues. Meanwhile, when the transplanted area is evaluated, the crusts seen are the most superficial skin parts of the grafts. These crusts can be poured asymmetrically while falling. This may give the wrong impression that the patient is planted too little on one side and too much on the other.
